90km Route

90km · Route

The first 8kms will be a bearable ascent in order to reach a dangerous steep descent for about 1km towards Arenal River. You must be very carefull to avoid an accident. From km 9 to km 22 it is an ascendent route, with several flat parts in order to reach one of the most beautiful spots of the race. Here we can see Arenal Lake and Volcano from the top of the mountain.

From km23 to km30 is a descending path to reach a fast and easy road until km43.

On km44 there is a long but doable ascent to reach a long slope until you get to the town of Venado. Once there, you will start that last 25kms, you are almost there. You must save energy for this last part, here begins the most extensive and difficult climb of this route. In additon you will have acumulated hours on the bike, altitude that we still need to pass and the possibility of high temperatures.

We recomend that you use all of our 4 aid stations, take your time to recover since this is a long and demanding route.

Rarely are there so many places of interest in a competition or training such as this. Arenal volcano, Arenal lake, Pelado hill, the Tilarán Wind farms, Rincón de la Vieja volcano and the Miravalles volcano can be enjoyed along the route. Also, the Tenorio volcano, Cote lake and the Concepción volcano in the distance on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua can be viewed.
